Strasbourg hosts Lille in the last 1/16-final in the French Cup tournament. Read our soccer predictions for that game below.
The hosts seem to be favorites in this game, as they are stable on their own terrain, and Lille is in a serious crisis. Over the weekend, the “dogs” lost 0:1 as Troyes guests, dropping to 18th with 22 points. Strasbourg recorded an important 3-2 victory over Dijon at home and took the tenth place in League One with a 27-point asset.
The Strasbourg team crashed Lille 3-0 in August in their home match against this rival in the championship. In their last eight home games, the team has five wins, one draw and two losses. Strasbourg plays with great motivation at home, as their fans always support them and Thierry Laurie’s players are dealt to the last. In the Cup tournament, the Strasbourg team eliminated Dijon with a 3-2 win over the last round, and now again meets an opponent to deal with and the goal is to take part in the 1/8-finals.
Lille guests defeated Le Mans with 4:2 on the 1/32-finals, having four wins in their last five matches in the Cup tournament. Last season they reached the 1/4-finals in the race, where they lost to Monaco by 1: 2. Lille, however, was much more consistent in the past campaign, and now their squad is filled with young players and they can not find their shape. There is only one player in the team for over 26 years, and that is the goalkeeper Vincent Enniama, who is a solid reserve. The advantage and experience is entirely on the side of the Strasbourg team and we think they will win this match at regular time.
